Meet Your Tutor

I wish someone told me how to study for the SAT®…
Instead, I spent 3 full months spinning my wheels. I took online prep courses, attended local classes, and spent hours on YouTube looking for SAT “hacks.” Yet, I felt like the SAT® (especially the reading), was something I could never understand. My parents grew tired of spending hundreds, if not thousands of their dollars, and hours of their time nagging me. They’d given up, and so had I.
Two weeks before my last shot, I came across this:
a framework that emphasized true comprehension of test content & logic over tricks (contrary to what many prep resources sell).
I scored a 1550 on that December 2, 2023 SAT from those two weeks.
Since then, I’ve extensively studied learning theory and SAT content.
After refining my approach, I’ve helped my students increase their scores by hundreds of points, and have personally scored a 1600 on the SAT.
Don’t repeat my mistakes—I’m here to give you the clarity that your studying works.
Parent & student satisfaction, by the numbers.
SAT® Prep Questions? Ask Away.
I’m lost. Where do I start with SAT® prep?
There’s an overwhelming amount of prep options out there, and it can be incredibly discouraging to go down rabbit holes that don’t improve your score.
The most efficient way to increase scores is through repetition of official practice problems and tests, and understanding why missed questions were answered incorrectly. This way, you’ll be able to internalize test logic and strategies, so that test-day will just be another day at the office.
How long are sessions?
I’m flexible. I’ll do the best I can to meet your schedule, but sessions typically range from 1-3 hours. We can work out how long/frequent sessions will be based on your goals and how long you have before your next test.
Is there a minimum number of sessions?
No. There is no commitment, just pay $75 per hour spent tutoring. Keep in mind, there is a relatively minimum amount of studying nesescary for any given score increase.
ACT or SAT?
Both test the same knowledge. They require ever-so slightly different skillsets, (the ACT is faster paced but simpler) but no one is inherently better at one or the other, nor is one harder than the other. Pick one, and don’t switch tests halfway through your studying.
How much homework do you assign?
It all depends on how many weeks you have to study, and your desired score increase. However, 30-60 minutes of practice each day, plus a 3 hour practice test on the weekends, is typical. Just remember that there is a near-linear relationship of practice problems completed to increases in score.
How can parents remain in the loop?
I provide weekly updates to parents regarding their children’s learning and progress.
How many sessions should a student take?
Typically, 6-12. But it depends. Need a 300+ point increase to match the criteria of your dream school? You’ll need a lot of studying. Only looking for a small bump in score? Just 3 sessions may be enough to learn Desmos strategies, refresh those grammar rules, and internalize my reading strategies. I can provide a better estimate on how we can meet your goals on our free discovery call.
My child is smart, but a bad test-taker. What do I do?
SAT® material is far different than school. If by bad test-taker, you mean that your child has not internalized test-taking strategies and structure, or learned to think like a test-writer, repetition of practice problems/tests and private tutoring will go a long way. If your child has anxiety, ADHD, or similar, I can help you explore the testing accommodations that College Board has to offer.
What will sessions consist of?
Sessions focus on your struggle points. After you complete your homework, we’ll review wrong answers, and help you understand why you got them wrong, and offer specific methods for approaching similar problems in the future. Ran out of time? Don’t worry, I’ve got strategies for everything there is to struggle on.
